CHAN: Time to replace the Leopard’s spots with beautiful black stars

Yaw AntwiCan the leopard change its spots? No? Just wait till Sunday and watch as Ghana white-washes the Leopards of D.R. Congo and replaces its spots with beautiful black stars.

Ghana is on its way to an undefeated year. No amount of threat from any country will stop this agenda. Some may give little respect to the technical abilities of Milovan Rajevac and his players (I have for instance repeatedly questioned his appreciation of the task and I will be asking many more). Others have rubbished the quality of the opposition Ghana has faced this year, including the CHAN competition. In reality however, how many true Ghanaian football fans will scoff at the slightest opportunity to win some silverware?

On Sunday March 8th  Ghana is going to win its second international silverware in 2008. After Sellas Tetteh’s Black Satellites dominated African youth football, the mantle has fallen on Milovan Rajevac’s shoulder to continue the winning ways for Ghana, by dominating Africa’s domestic international football. Milovan Rajevac has only one option – success. We refuse to play second fiddle to any country on the continent this year. In this year, the name Ghana must send chills down the spine of all national team coaches – especially, the Squirrels of Benin, the Eagles of Mali and the Desert Hawks of Sudan.

CHAN: Senegal must be grilled today

chan-aSo far, Ghana has managed a respectable showing in the CHAN competition. Although Ghana started on a rather shaky note, there are indications that they are about the most formidable team in the competition this far and likely to lift the CHAN trophy. Milovan Rajevac and his charges are gradually doing the job. Forget about the shaky start, the end must necessarily determine the means and with two more games, Milovan may probably prove his critics wrong.

Ghana Wakes Up – CHAN Ghana 3:0 DR CONGO

4t62wkIt has been a rather  hair-raising first round for Ghana in the CHAN competition so far,  but in the end, Ghana came through, beating D.R. Congo to gather 5 necessary points to go to the nest stage of the CHAN tournament.

Somehow, my belief that Ghana is not likely to lose a game this year is on course. Whatever made the team wake up, I hope it is not a nine day wonder. Two of the most criticized players – Charles Taylor, Yaw Antwi have made Ghana proud today.

In deed, Taylor carried the team on his shoulders today while Antwi had his goal. Congratulations to Milovan and the entire team. The task ahead may be huge, but I am sure Ghana will take things one step at a time, as we have always done. Hopefully, Milovan will find the right combination of players in the next game.

Congratulations to the team. You have your few days of celebration. The critical analyses will continue afterwards unabated!
