GHANAIAN FOOTBALLERS IN EUROPE 5-7 NOVEMBER 2010

ENGLAND

In the Premier League, Michael Essien missed Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool due to a toe injury. Asamoah Gyan scored in the 9th and 86th minutes as Sunderland beat Stoke City 2-0. John Mensah was replaced by Anton Ferdinand in the 67th minute for Sunderland. Richard Kingston was on the bench as Blackpool drew 2-2 with Everton. John Paintsil was an unused substitute as Fulham drew 1-1 with Aston Villa.  In the Championship, Lloyd Sam was an unused substitute as Leeds United won 3-2 at Coventry City. Patrick Agyemang replaced Rob Hulse in the 81st minute as Queens Park Rangers defeated Reading 3-1.

SCOTLAND

In the Scottish Premier League, Francis Dickoh was an unused substitute as Hibernian lost 2-0 at home to Heart of Midlothian. Prince Buaben played the full game as Dundee United won 1-0 at Hamilton Academical.

SPAIN

In the La Liga, Derek Boateng was booked in the 57th minute and was sent off in the 80th minute as Getafe lost 3-1 at home to Barcelona. Jeffrey Sarpong replaced Antoine Griezmann in the 79th minute as Real Sociedad beat Racing Santander 1-0. Quincy Owusu Abeyie replaced Juanmi in the 59th minute as Malaga lost 1-0 to Espanyol.  In the Segunda, Mubarak Wakaso was booked in the 63rd minute and played the full game as Elche beat Las Palmas 3-2.  Jonathan Mensah played the full match as Granada lost 2-1 to Cartagena. Ransford Osei was not in Granada’s squad.

ITALY

In the Serie A, Kevin Prince Boateng was not part of the AC Milan squad that won 3-2 at Bari. Stephen Appiah was booked in the 37th minute and played the full game as Cesena lost 3-1 to Juventus.  Kwadwo Asamoah played the full match as Udinese drew 1-1 with Cagliari. Emmanuel Agyemang Badu was an unused substitute for Udinese. Richmond Boakye Yiadom replaced Dario Dainelli in the 65th minute as Genoa lost 1-0 to Palermo. Afriyie Acquah did not make Palermo’s squad. Sulley Muntari missed Inter Milan’s 1-1 draw with Brescia through a calf injury.

In Serie B, Dominic Adiyiah was an unused substitute as Reggina beat Portosummaga 1-0. Ahmed Barusso was booked in the 76th minute and played the full game as Livorno drew 1-1 with Modena.  Isaac Cofie was an unused substitute as Torino drew 0-0 with Grosseto.

GERMANY

In the Bundesliga, Isaac Boakye was not part of the Nuremberg squad that won 3-1 against Cologne. Isaac Vorsah played the full game as Hoffenheim lost 2-1 to Hamburg. Prince Tagoe failed to make Hoffenheim’s squad. Hans Adu Sarpei was an unused substitute as Schalke 04 thrashed St Pauli 3-0.

FRANCE

In the Championnat, Andre Ayew replaced Mathieu Valbuena in the 75th minute as Marseille lost 2-1 to Paris Saint Germain. Andre’s younger brother Jordan Ayew was an unused substitute for Marseille. Abeiku Quansah was not part of the Nice squad that beat Toulouse 2-0. John Boye was an unused substitute as Rennes drew 1-1 with Lyon.

In Ligue 2, Moussa Narry played the full game as Le Mans won 1-0 at Metz. Rabiu Mohammed is currently injured and as such did not make Evian Thonon Gaillard’s squad in their 1-1 draw with Le Havre.

THE NETHERLANDS

In the Eredivisie, Laryea Kingston was an unused substitute as Vitesse Arnhem drew 1-1 with AZ Alkmaar. Eric Addo replaced Jimmy Hempte in the 64th minute as Roda JC Kerkrade drew 1-1 with Feyernoord Rotterdam.  Nana Akwasi Asare was not part of the Utrecht squad that lost 2-1 at home to PSV Eindhoven. Kwame Quansah played the full match as Heracles lost 3-2 to Heerenveen.  Matthew Amoah played the full 90 minutes as NAC Breda lost 2-1 to Groningen.

BELGIUM

In the Pro League, Daniel Opare missed Standard Liege’s 3-1 defeat at home to AS Eupen through suspension. William Acheampong Owusu played the full 90 minutes as Cercle Brugge lost 1-0 at home to Gent. Abdul Yakinu Iddi was an unused substitute as Mechelen beat Charleroi 2-0.

DENMARK

In the SAS Ligaen, Enoch Adu Kofi played the full match as Nordsjaelland lost 1-0 to Silkeborg. Issah Ahmed’s Randers will play against OB Odense on Monday night.

ISRAEL

In the Ligat Al, Stephen Ahorlu and Eric Gawu played the full 90 minutes as Hapoel Ashkelon lost 2-0 to Maccabi Tel Aviv. James Bissue replaced Ricardo Fernandes in the 46th minute as Hapoel Be’er Sheva beat Hapoel Ramat Gan 2-0. Abraham Basit replaced Lior Assulin in the 81st minute for Hapoel Be’er Sheva. Daniel Addo played the full game as Hapoel Petah Tikva won 2-0 at Beitar Jerusalem. William Amamoo was an unused substitute for Hapoel Petah Tikva.

GREECE

In the Super League, Bernard Yao Kumordji was booked in the 26th minute and was replaced by Dimitris Kovolos in the 81st minute as Panionios were thrashed 5-0 by Olympiakos.

NORWAY

In the Eliteserien, Anthony Annan played the full game as new champions Rosenborg drew 2-2 with Aalesund. Adam Kwarasey was replaced by Lars Stubhaug as Stromsgodset beat Lillestrom 5-4. On loan Manchester City midfielder Mohammed Abu replaced Jason Morrison in the 84th minute for Stromsgodset.

SWEDEN

In the Allsvenskan, Yusif Chibsah played the full game as Gefle drew 2-2 with IFK Goteborg. James Frempong was booked in the 44th minute and was replaced by eventual goal scorer Dragan Kapcevic in the 82nd minute.

RUSSIA

In the Premier League, Haminu Draman was an unused substitute as Locomotiv Moscow drew 0-0 with Alania Vladikavkaz.

PORTUGAL

In the Liga, David Addy wasn’t part of the Academica squad that drew 2-2 with Portimonense.

SERBIA

In the Meridijan Super Liga, Yaw Antwi did not play as Vojvodina thrashed Borac Cacak 4-0.  Lee Addy and Mohammed Awal were involved as Red Star Belgrade beat OFK Beograd.

SWITZERLAND

In the Super League, Mark Edusei played the entire match as Bellinzona lost 2-1 at home to FC Zurich. Samuel Inkoom played the full match as Basel drew 1-1 with Luzerne.
