MONDAY MORNING EXPERT: GLO (GHANA) PREMIER LEAGUE MATCH DAY 18 IN FIGURES


SOME MATCH DAY HIGHLIGHTS

GOLDEN CITY, BEREKUM [B. Chelsea 1-0 Kotoko]: Berekum Chelsea played a controlled game to pip struggling Asante Kotoko. Emmanuel Clottey played a nice shot pass Isaac Amoako. The performance of central defender Awal Mohammed (Kotoko) was solid on the day and give many fans the assurance that Ghana’s CHAN team might not leak goals. Another player who stepped in the limelight at the Golden City Park was attacking midfielder Mohammed Basit.

BABAYARA, KUMASI [King Faisal 1-0 B. Arsenals]: The few tens of King Faisal fans who went to the Babaya Stadium had to wait till the 95th minute to celebrate a win against Berekum Arsenals. But the wait was worthwhile. Emmanuel Odoi took on and dribbled three Arsenals players before placing a beautifully taken shot pass the Arsenals goalkeeper.

ACCRA SPORTS STADIUM [Hearts of Oak 0-1 Heart of Lions]: Someone said Accra Sports Stadium is not a good home grounds for Hearts of Oak. He thus advised fans to misbehave and get the club banned from playing at Accra. After huffing and puffing throughout the first half to no avail, Gilbert Fiamenyo latched on to the end of a beautiful move by Ofosu Amoah to slot one home. The CHAN Black Stars striker had not scored in 11 games prior to Match Day 18. Awako Gladson of Heart of Lions also had a good game in central midfield. It must be mentioned here that Hearts were without Black Stars goalkeeper Sammy Adjei, who was serving a match ban.

ESSIPONG, SEKONDI [Medeama 2-1 RTU]: Medeama (Kessben) will thank Emmanuel Dogbe for providing them an important win. R.T.U, who had not lost in five games, went to Essipong with resolve and played a good game. But Dogbe’s bullet of a shot from the right flank flew in pass goalkeeper Mohammed Opash before he could do anything about it. Loius Agyemang continued with his scoring run, scoring his third goal in three games.

ADU GYAMFI PARK, BEKWAI [Edubiase 0-0 Mighty Jets]: There were no goals at Gyamfi Park, but fans were not treated to a boring game. Mighty Jets dynamo in midfield Aaron Amoah thunderbolt of a shot was saved by goalkeeper Iddrisu Salia. But the Edubuiase goalkeeper could not handle the ball which then fell to Ato Ghansah of Mighty Jets whose shot was also saved by Salia. On the 74th minute Richard Adjei of Mighy Jets went solo from his own half taking on and beating every opponent on his way. His shot at goal was however saved by goalkeeper Salia.

AGYEMANG BADU II, DORMAA [Aduana 1-0 AshantiGold SC]: AshantiGold could not stop their losing run against champions Aduana Stars at Dormaa. Alexander Aryee’s goal separated the two teams. Striker Nurudine Ali came close to scoring on the 11th and 21st minute, but he wasted the opportunities. It is worth mentioning here that goalkeeper Fatau Dauda was brought on to replace Isaac Akrong in post for AshantiGold.
