GLO (GHANA) PREMIER LEAGUE MATCH DAY 21 IN FIGURES

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have shaken off threats of relegation which faced them as they rode on the backs of Aduana Stars to jump to the third position on the league log in front of a fully packed Babaya Stadium.

AshantiGold striker Yakubu Mohammed’s 45th minute spectacular bicycle kick goal against Real Tamale United was the best taken goal of the day. Goal struck from over 25 yards from Kotoko’s Frank Boateng and Lions’ Godfred Asante deserve honourable mentions.

Match Day 21 will be remembered for the red cards and penalties. Daniel Asamoah (AshantiGold), Sumaila Nyanya (Real Tamale United), Bernard Dong Bortey (Aduana) and Osei Isaac (Medeamma) were all sent off. Hearts of Oak, Liberty Professionals and Berekum Chelsea were all awarded penalties.

SOME MATCH DAY HIGHLIGHTS

BEREKUM [Berekum Chelsea 1-0 Medeamma]: Berekum Chelsea had to wait till Medeamma’s Isaac Osei was red carded before they could break down the difficult Medeamma defence. Super substitute, Emmanuel Osei Banahene came on in the second half to set up Bismark Idan who grabbed the only goal for the league leaders.

ACCRA [Liberty 1-2 Hearts of Oak]: It was a bad day in the office for former Black Stars goalkeeper Patrick Antwi. Uriah Asante initiated Antwi’s woes  Alfred Nelson brought Uriah Asante down in the penalty box early in the game. Douglas Nkrumah elected himself to take the penalty and made no mistakes. After Ezme Mend’s breathtaking free kick which resulted in the second goal for Hearts, Liberty won a penalty which was converted by substitute goal keeper Daniel Adjei.

KUMASI [Kotoko 3-0 Aduana]: Referee Awal Mohammed sent of Benard Dong Bortey early in the first half to give Kotoko the numerical advantage. Frank Boateng opened the floodgates with a 30-yard strike which beat goal keeper Stephen Adams. Afterwards, Stephen Oduro turned on his style; causing havoc to the Aduana defence and setting Daniel Nii Adjei to score the second and grabbing the third goal himself

CAPE COAST [Dwarfs 1-0 B. A. Stars]: Poor ball handling by James Nanor gifted Emmanuel Osei Kufuour with a wonderful opportunity to tap the ball past his former Accra Hearts of Oak colleague, James Nanor.

KPANDU [Heart of Lions 2-0 Berekum Arsenal]: From a Yakubu Mohammed assist, Godfred Asante blasted the ball home from 25 yards in the 32nd minute to give the home team the lead before Bright Nsiah sealed the winner for the home side.
