GLO (GHANA) PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCH DAY 23 IN FIGURES

No away wins were recorded on Match Day 23. Only 2 of the 15 goals scored were away goals. Kwame Frimpong’s 30 yarder shot, Nathaniel Asamoah’s skilfully created and scored goal and Ahmed Toure’s super strike from 25 yards captured the hearts of man fans.

The top liner for Match Day 23 was at the rival battle at Baba Yara Stadium. After what appeared to be a balanced game, Kotoko coach Bogdan Korak have what could be described as a ‘Eureka Idea’. He brought on goal king Nathaniel Asamoah midway into the second half to execute this idea.

NATHANIEL ASAMOAH - Joint top scorer - was a fantastic super sub on Match Day 23 for Kotoko

Asamoah repaid his manager’s confidence with a brilliant individual performance beating his marker in the box, beat an on-rushing defender before poking the ball to the far corner. Asuandzie Baffoe equalized for Faisal immediately. But Kotoko’s resolve to win the rival battle was too high to settle for a draw. Nathaniel Asamoah released Ahmed Toure, who cut in from the left, let go a 25-yard strike to the top corner to seal the winner for Kotoko in the 85th minute.

Berekum Chelsea are almost runaway winners of the league. They will have to drop 13 points before any of the distant contenders can catch up. With the league in home run, there is little doubt that the Berekum boys will be crowned early champions.

Unless B.A. Stars can find some magic, they will return to the lower divisions. The other clubs who will follow B.A. Stars into the abyss is still not settled yet. Any of King Faisal, Mighty Jets, RTU, Hearts of Oak, all Stars, Berekum arsenals and New Edubiase could find themselves going down with B.A. Stars if they slip in the remaining 7 games. A fiery battle for survival is about to ensue in the 7 games remaining.
