Ghana Glo Premier League 2011/12: Match Day 11 Summary and Statistics

[1] MATCH DAY 11 SUMMARY

Three home wins and four draws were recorded this week. There were no away wins. Hearts of Oak are the best defense so far. They cap their defensive performance with a 7 clean sheets. Wa All Stars and Asante Kotoko have scored in all games except two. Medeama have the best attack so far with 17 goals. On club form, Asante Kotoko, Dwarfs and Berekum Chelsea have lost just once this season. On the goal king front, Emmanuel Baffour scored his second brace of the season to increase his goal tally to 11. This is phenomenal by Ghana league standards given that we have crowned goal kings with just 13 goals in the past.

[7.3] Performance Sequence (Clean Sheets and Scoring Form)

Hearts of Oak continue to be the team wit the most clean sheets. They have however failed to score in about half of the games they have played this season.  Wassaman Utd picked their first clean sheet on Match Day 11. Out of the 11 games played so far, AshantiGold has failed to score in 6. Kotoko and Wa All Stars have scored in all games except 2. AshantiGold have failed to score in 6 games.

[7.4] Season Best Attacking Clubs

There is something about Essipong Stadium which inspires goals from the Medeama squad.  Down the attacking table, AshantiGold’s lack of scoring depth is becoming worse. 7 goals out of 11 games speaks volumes of how low the once African giants have fallen.

[7.5] Season’s Best Defensive Clubs

Last week, Aduana Stars joined Hearts of Oak as the stingiest defenses in the league. The story is different this week as Aduana conceded one more goal than Hearts of Oak. Worth mentioning is the performance of AshantiGold. We have already seen that the Miners are goal-shy, but we also see here that they have some of the worse defending in the league. At this rate, AshantiGold are heading towards the relegation battle.

[7.6] Goal Supremacy

Goal Supremacy measures the real number of goals owned by a club per game. Goal supremacy is estimated by taking the difference between goals scored and goals conceded and dividing by the number of matches played.

With Kotoko vs Berekum Chelsea postponed, there are no changes at the top of the supremacy league. Berekum Chelsea and Kotoko are neck-to-neck in the race for supremacy.
