2012 CAF Champions League: Berekum Chelsea’s Fate Hangs

Berekum Chelsea!

Berekum Chelsea’s unbelievable Champion’s League run may come to a crushing end tomorrow if Egyptian side Al Ahly fail to beat T. P. Mazembe from D. R. Congo.

Chelsea drew 1-1 with Zamalek in their penultimate Group B matches this afternoon. This result means that Chelsea are currently third on the table with 6 points, while Zamalek has 1 point. Al Ahly and T. P. Mazembe have 10 and 7 points respectively with a game in hand.

Berekum Chelsea could have had more control over their fate if they had played a less naive game against the group’s whipping boys; Zamalek. The Ghanaian club played a good game but failed to take advantage of their goal-scoring opportunities.

A win today could have put Berekum Chelsea at 8 points. Even if Mazembe managed to beat Ahly, they would have had 10 points and the last group match at home in Ghana could have presented some advantages.

Fingers crossed for the Ghanaian team!
