Somewhere in the VIP section, a club official squirms uncomfortably in his seat. This is a make-or-break season. Somewhere at the popular stand there is an explosive argument about the abilities of the new coach which is deteriorating into near fisticuffs. One ‘nsamanmo-chanting’ choir is not about to stop circling the outer perimeter. A player prays against injuries this season. Another wonders if this is his year. The heat is on!
Eight Glo Premier League venues will come alive each week this season with some of the best Football Made in Ghana. Sixteen teams; 30 weeks and 240 exciting games – Only one club will see glory. That club which will display enough mental toughness, technical superiority, tactical aptness and a lot of ‘ways and mean’ will be crowned champions of The Glo Premier League 2009/2010!
I look forward to an exciting season. Of course, given that this is the Ghanaian league, I will not be in denial – there will be the usual troubles of board and court room wrangling; bad officiating and crowd violence. Hopefully this year we will record the minimum of such vices. But let me take you through three things to expect from each of the 16 clubs.
