ABRANKESE: Kessben FC-Great Olympics
If you are a lover of beautiful football then this should be the game you are likely to be interested in. Home side Kessben are on a good run, beating King Faisal Babies 1-2 away from home in round 1. They will expect to produce another good result, but Accra Great Olympics are a difficult team to beat.
Players to watch Kessben: Richard Mpong, Prince Attakora Gyima and Bismark Idan
Players to watch Olympics: Muntari Tagoe, Malik Akowua, Eric Adjei
Prediction: Kessben 1:2 Great Olympics
WA PARK: All Stars-Ashanti Gold SC
The Miners come to this game with an unconvincing home win against Bechem Chelsea while the Wa lads produced a spirited away draw down south. Quality wise, I rate All Stars above The Miners and I do not expect them to lose at home. However the Wa lads will have to find a good replacement for suspended Michael Ocansey.
Players to watch All Stars: Daniel Bomfa, Robert Dabuo, Kwame Nsor
Players to watch Ashgold: David Telfar, Fatau Dauda, Daniel Asamoah
Prediction: All Stars 2:0 AshGold
CORONATION PARK: Bechem Chelsea-Berekum Arsenal
This will be Arsenal’s second regional derby in a row. Both teams have adopted English Premier League names. Although Arsenal teams did not lose their previous game, they did not find their game as easy as they expected. Coach Ebo Mends will however need to find answers to a wounded Chelsea who will surely come knocking at his door. Perhaps the return of Philip Boampong from Egypt 2009 will prove helpful.
Players to watch Chelsea: Lee Addey, Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor, Richard Adika
Players to watch Arsenal: Samuel Yaw Owusu, Stephen Amankwah, Philip Boampong
Prediction: Bechem Chelsea 1:2 Berekum Arsenal
DORMAA: Aduana Stars-Liberty Professionals
Aduana Stars are good, there is no doubt about that but Liberty are better. In-form Daniel Adjei, Kassenu Ghandi and Latif Salifu from Satellites camp are enough to spark relegation fears for the newly promoted side. Liberty are coming to this game after trouncing Asfa Yennega of Burkina Faso 5-2 in the WAFU Tournament.
Players to watch Aduana Stars: Nurudeen Ali, Richard Addai, Bright Frimpong
Players to watch Liberty Pros: Richard Kissi Boating, Latif Salifu, Patrick Antwi
Prediction: Aduana Stars 0:3 Liberty Professionals
OHENE DJAN: Hearts of Oak-King Faisal Babies
Both teams lost on the opening day of the league. Both teams conceded 2 goals. While Faisal pulled one back, Hears posed zero threat to their opponents. Coaches of both clubs (Isaac Opeeley Boateng of King Faisal and Ayman El Yamani of Hearts of Oak) are new and have a lot to prove this season. At least one of them is likely to be sacked before the season ends. However, I tip King Faisal to beat Hearts of Oak who seem to be rebuilding their team and also have key players (Kofi Abanga, Charles Taylor and captain Karim Alhassan) injured.
Players to watch Hearts of Oak: Torric Jibril, Luggard Tetteh, Eric Gawu
Players to watch King Faisal: Osei Boateng, Ofosu Mickey, Suraj Mohammed
Prediction: Hearts of Oak 1:1 King Faisal Babies
BABA YARA: Kotoko-Eleven Wise
This game will be fiery. There is drama written all over this game. Both teams have some great potential but managed unimpressive 1-1 draws on match-day 1. Their much talked about tactical brains (Paa Kwasi Fabien of Kotoko and C.K. Akunor of Wise) did not produce the magic to satisfy their fans. Whereas Wise needs to find their jel, Kotoko is in search for the motivation.
Players to watch Kotoko: Jordan Opoku, Isaac Amoako, Kwabena Yaro
Players to watch Eleven Wise: Samuel Ayew Yeboah, James Bisue, Kwaku Essien
Prediction: Kotoko 2:3 Eleven Wise
ESSIPON: Hasaacas-Heart of Lions
Hasaacas were unimpressive in their last game at Tamale. To make matters worse, they will be missing key player Joseph Akowua who has been suspended. Plus, they did not sign any big quality this season. Perhaps the return of goal keeper Joseph Addo from Egypt 2009 might be helpful. Heart of Lions on the other hand, are in a form of their lives. They are not going to be stopped at Essipon.
Players to watch Hasaacas: Joseph Addo, Joseph Ato Bisah, Benjamin Annan
Players to watch Heart of Lions: Tanko Mohammed, Daniel Yeboah, Kofi Nti-Boakye
Prediction: Hasaacas 1:3 Heart of Lions
LEN CLAY: New Edubiase FC-Real Tamale United
We are yet to see the stuff New Edubiase is made off. The expected baptism of fire they would have received from Liberty Professionals did not come off. I have my doubts whether perennial poor away performers RTU will pose much threat to the new entrants.
Players to watch New Edubiase FC: James Nanor, Francis Jojoe Bossman, Charles Vardis
Players to watch RTU: Peter Yakubu, Alhassan Weah, Kwame Adzagba
Prediction: New Edubiase FC 1:1 Real Tamale United
